Country Onion Pie

 

 

7 sweet onions

¼ stick butter

2 garlic cloves

1 egg

½ cup sour cream

2 tbsp. chives

2 tbsp. flat leafed parsley

1 tsp. salt

¼ tsp. nutmeg

¼ tsp. pepper

1 tbsp. thyme

 

Filling:

Slice onions and mince garlic.

Chop chives, and parsley.

Melt butter in a large fry pan.

Add onions and fry until golden brown.

Mix in garlic, salt, pepper, chives, and parsley.

Sauté 3 minutes..

Put into a large mixing bowl.

In a separate bowl, beat egg, thyme, sour cream and nutmeg.

Combine with onion mixture.

Allow filling to come to room temperature.

 

Bake a ready-made 9-inch piecrust for 7 minutes according to directions.

Remove from oven and increase temperature to 400 degrees.

Fill piecrust with onion mixture and bake until crust is golden brown, approximately 15 minutes.
