During the spring and the fall, hydrants throughout the district may be open for extended periods of time. The Old Town Water District must periodically flush (flow water from them at high  velocities)  it's hydrants twice per year to eliminate sediment from the inside of the pipes. This sediment is lime (which is used to prevent corrosion) and corrosion products associated with water pipes.
The water is always safe to drink but this allows the overall appearance of the water to remain clear. Customers may experience a slight reduction in pressure during this time. Please be aware this is for the benefit of the OTWD and it's customers.
