William Cameron & Co Ltd of Grenfell Street, Adelaide, was established in 1877. The Adelaide factory was one in a chain of similar businesses in operation in the eastern states. The parent company belonged to Messrs. George and Alexander Cameron, of Richmond and Petersburg, Virginia, USA.
During the mid 1890s the modern, well-equipped factory was operated by P.M. Lawrence who was production manager. Some of the tobacco was used to produce the Havelock, Eureka, Two Seas, Raven, and St. Andrews brand products.
