Montague Levi acquired the tobacconist business of Levi Isaacs just after the turn of the century (1900.) The business occupied a prime position on the north-west corner of King William St and Hindley St, Adelaide.
Among the extensive product range, was the stores special blends of 'Doctors Mixture & Montague Mixture.'
Levi blended tobacco from T.C. Williams of Virginia, USA, with others of his choosing and packed them in tins displaying his name.
About five different tin styles have been found so far. |
