A.W. Sandford & Co, commenced business as produce salesmen in 1888. Their premises were on Grenfell Street, next to Imperial Place, Adelaide.
By 1916, the firm converted to a limited company, and were produce salesmen, auctioneers, agents for Ruberoid roofing, Alfa Laval separators, and the Penguin Guano Co.
Then by 1920, Sandfords had built a four storey building on the south side of Grenfell Street, between Coromandel Place and Chesser Street, Adelaide.
The Imperial Gallon tin is extremely rare and dates from the 1920s. It would have a value exceeding $200 |
