D. & J. Fowler factory on North Tce, Adelaide, in 1925

From a Fowler cook book of that date.

The old factory (in part) stills sits on it's North Tce site.
Fowler established their first retail provisions store on King William St, Adelaide in 1854, and from humble beginnings grew a wholesale giant.

They eventually owned a confectionery factory, condiment works, jam factory, and had factories in King William Street and North Tce, Adelaide, also at Port Adelaide, for the manufacture and packing of a wide range of grocery products.

Fowlers also had offices and factories in Fremantle, Western Australia; Broken Hill, New South Wales; and London, England.

The company where also shipping and general agents.

The business traded under Fowler family management until the mid 1960s, after which operations were split into a number of different segments and sold off.
