O.K., Skydivers, above left, Brenda inspects what is left of a canopy that ripped on deployment at the Hillbillie Boogie, in June of '05. The bottom skin of the canopy stayed intact, so when Brenda looked up to check after opening she saw nothing unusual. She did a control chech and the canopy responded, left turn, right turn & flair. She flew the canopy to a good landing but noted that there had been a hard opening & the canopy had been sluggish and got little penetration. Well, in first- jump course we teach that you only need 5 out of 7 cells to fly a canopy. That must be true! |
