High School Cheerleader Murdered in a Santeria  Ceremony

The Demonic Ceremony on 17 Aldrich Street, Sayville

Contributed by Dale Leibe

Melissa Joan Hart was not the only teenage witch from her home town. One of her peers from her small town, whom Melissa Joan Hart went to school with, of Sayville was also a headline grabbing witch, only she went a step further. They had many mutual friends. Greg*  said, "Melissa and Serena were both close friends of mine." In the popular childrens  show Sabrina the witch frequently casts spells on a hated cheerleader called Libby. But her schoolmate went one step further and killed a popular cheerleader in a demonic ceremony by taking part in putting a plastic bag over her head, to kill her!

A popular cheerleader in Sayville, New York was murdered in a Santeria ceremony. The form of witchcraft called Santeria developed in Cuba and was brought to America by criminals in the Mariel boatlift. The people who murdered Charity Martin were Cubans.

Sayville Cheerleading and Cheerleaders The Sayville cheerleaders. Popular cheerleader Charity Miranda was a real cutie. The Sayville cheerleading squad is an important part of the football game. Many pictured here were classmates of Melissa Joan Hart ("Sabrina the Teenage Witch").

Cheerleader Charity Miranda  was killed by Serena Martin in a demonic ceremony.

The mother of this infamous witch even gave her an appropriate name: Serena, just like Samanthas cousin in Bewitched," "Teen Witch" and "Madam Serena" in "Jumanji." It was a dark day in Sayville when Serena Martin, a former student of Sayville High School killed popular cheerleader Charity Miranda, in conjunction with her mother!

The murder occurred on the same Aldrich Street where years earlier Sayville resident John Powers went on a shooting spree killing what he considered to be rotten kids. When questioned about her fiendish behavior, Serena exclaimed that she had performed the Santeria ceremony to drive out Charitys demons. But according to a popular Sayville rumor, she only said that because she did not want it known that the cheerleader was a sacrifice like goats and pigeons. They had two occult symbols in the window, on Aldrich St.

Aldrich St. is described by residents as having Spooky, old houses. It was here that John Powers committed a mass shooting of members of the young criminal element living in Sayville at the time. A short time later a friend of John Powers went on his own spree, going after some of the survivors of the first. Mr. Powers is now living back in Sayville after he spent a short time in jail.

Santeria revolves around sacrifice and the drawing of blood. There have been numerous occasions where practitioners of Santeria engaged in human sacrifice to their mythical god. 1, 2, 3, 8, Sacrifices are performed to mark significant events such as birth, marriage and death 4 There are highly secretive rituals, of which little is known to outsiders, even today 5  Possession is a big part of Santeria , they invite a spirit/demon to enter the body. Santeria is not Catholic, the users used Catholic symbols as a mask to hide what it really is: La Regla Lukum. 11 According to Dee Finney, The Nigerian Orisha religion, upon which Santeria is based, practiced human sacrifice until the 1860's when it was judicially prohibited by the British Colonial Administration. 12  And The Orishas do indeed take human blood as part of the sacrificial offering, with the practice dating back to early Yoruba civilization until the early 1900's and in some parts, still practiced secretly today. 12  Thus, human sacrifice is a historical part of Santeria.

According to Christianity Today and the BBC human sacrifice is still occurs in the parts of Nigeria that Santeria started, "To their horror, authorities recovered more than 80 skulls and 50 fresh corpses. In these shrines, the police recovered three registers. They list 1,258 visitors who had allegedly come to offer human sacrifices in the past five years." 15

In Santeria orishas received a Catholic saint name to deceive. They associated the trickster Eleugga with either St. Anthony of Padua, St. Martin de Porres, or St. Michael the Archangel. 11  Santeria means Way of the Saints. But it is really a religion that revolves around blood, in Spanish Sangre. Is Santeria a word to cover what there beliefs are really all about, Sangre, like saint names are used to disguise the blood thirsty Orishas? For many, the answer is Yes. Santaria is really Sangreta, the way of blood, they say. It is a form of vampirism.

Though it is claimed that cheerleader Charity Miranda was killed in an exorcism, the prosecutor said it was a murder. Exorcism does not involve murdering the possessed. Santeria frequently has spirits possess the body, but only very infrequently do they remove a spirit. Exorcism of spirits is only a very small part of Santeria. However, sacrifice is a big part of Santeria. Santeria sacrifices are often done when someone dies. They believe in feeding blood to spirits (Orishas) so that they can do their bidding. Sometime, as in Matamoros, they killed humans. 5 As with animals, the Santeria practitioners cut off the head of the people they sacrifices to the Orishas.

Serena and Vivian Miranda went after Charitys head by putting a bag over it. This was also done right after Vivian Mirandas husband died. The police also said that it was a murder with intent, they even tried to cover up the murder. Vivian Miranda symbolically separated her head from her body by putting a bag over her head. This is what killed the victim at 17 Aldrich St.

Is Santeria a form of witchcraft? I asked expert Pastor Stan Madrak at demonbusters.com who told me Santeria is a very powerful form of witchcraft.  In his book, "Yoruba Beliefs and Sacrificial Rites," Omosade Awolalu who is the head of the religious study department for the University of Ibadan in Africa relates the basis of the Santaria/Sangreta with witchcraft. In addition, the same places that sell witchcraft supplies often sell Santeria supplies since their requirements are so similar. The word for witchcraft in Spanish is "Brujeria." According to the Cuban Information Archives Santeria "Brujeria" (Witchcraft) "is achieved in many ways, including leaving animal carcasses (decapitated doves, roosters,, chickens) at the entrance of a business, home or courthouse or by preparing dolls stuffed with ritual items and written notes stating a specific request." 14

Afro-Caribbean Religion C.I.B. YEARLY REPORT 1995 [Miami-Dade County Florida Police Department]C.I.B. - March 1995 - Intelligence Review Case 6

A mulatto Cuban man died from multiple gunshot wounds after being chased by another Cuban man.  The victim was clad in pants and sport shirt covered with multicolored glitter, which was also found in his shoes.  In his possession was a small gold-plated tack hammer and a gold-plated flashlight.  Background investigation revealed the victim was a practitioner of Santeria and would often wear shoes of dissimilar colors and eye glasses with one dark and one clear lens.  Three days earlier he had threatened to cut off the head of his eventual assailant and offer it to the saints.  This later proved to be the actual motive for the shooting.

Comment: The defendant was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison.  The case emphasizes that the threats and beliefs of this cult are regarded seriously and there is at least the potential for homicide.  Also, violent retaliation is feared by those who would betray some of the secrets of Santeria or intimidate santeros.

Birds such as pigeons, canaries and hens are used in rubbing rituals where the practitioner is cleansed-the evil supposedly passing from the victim to the animal.   It must be mentioned that many followers of this religion maintain strict secrecy regarding their religious involvement.

Santeros believe they can perform rituals which result in their being possessed by the dead. The coffin had been dug up and pried open, and a corpse, headless, sat against the tombstone. Arrayed around it: small gourd bowls, a severed rooster's head and a cow's tongue, nailed to a tree.  She learned the code to read from a Santeria "Book of Life." That knowledge helped her solve a 1996 murder; what Godoy called a "Santeria confession" led to the arrest of a murder suspect. "We confiscated ... human skulls.

12. http://www.greatdreams.com/believrs.htm THE BELIEVERS THE DREAM AND THE REALITY A STUDY IN CULTS Articles Collected by Dee Finney The Nigerian Orisha religion, upon which Santeria is based, practiced human sacrifice until the 1860's when it was judicially prohibited by the British Colonial Administration. Some human sacrifices were conducted after that date, although their number radically decreased after the prohibition, as now those who participated in these sacrifices could be put to death for murder. There are still rather strict rules concerning human sacrifice, as well as Animal Sacrifice. The former are taught occasionally to those who study the Orisha religion. Interestingly enough, the rules for human sacrifice are quite similar to those taught to Initiates of Kali Worship in India, where human sacrifice was also abolished by the British Colonial Authority in the 1860's. In Yorubaland, human sacrifice was a regular part Orisha worship. The orishas gladly took the blood of human sacrificial victims, usually these victims were from opposing tribes that were captured in battle and even members of the same tribe itself were offered to the Orisha in times of draught, disease and disaster. An excellent book is entitled, "Yoruba Beliefs and Sacrificial Rites" by Omosade Awolalu, the head of the religious study department for the University of Ibadan for the past 18 years. The Orishas do indeed take human blood as part of the sacrificial offering, with the practice dating back to early Yoruba civilization until the early 1900's and in some parts, still practiced secretly today.

Santeria is closely connected with spiritism, a form of worship condemned in the Bible. (Leviticus 19:31) God's Word lists the "practice of spiritism" among "the works of the flesh," which bar a person from inheriting God's Kingdom. (Galatians 5:19-21) The Scriptures also command those desiring God's approval to "flee from idolatry" and to "worship the Father with spirit and truth."1 Corinthians 10:14; John 4:23, 24.

N.Y. Girl Killed Over Demon Accusation!

SAYVILLE, N.Y. (Reuters) - A New York woman was arrested Monday and accused of suffocating her teenage cheerleader daughter because she thought the girl was possessed by demons, police said. An aunt found the body of 17-year-old Charity Miranda late Sunday night, lying at the bottom of a staircase in the family's suburban home in Sayville, New York, police said. The girl's mother and 20-year-old sister were chanting and praying over the body. Charity Miranda had been suffocated with a plastic bag, said Detective Lt. John Gierasch of the Suffolk County Police Department.`` She believed that her daughter was possessed by demons, and this was an effort to get rid of those demons,'' he said. The woman had been trying to exorcise the demons but gave up and decided to kill the girl, he said.`` A decision was made that she must die,'' Gierasch said. The victim was a senior in high school and a cheerleader, police said. Her older sister, a college student, who was believed to have witnessed the killing, was also a cheerleader, police said. The youngest sister, (15 years old), is believed to be in danger from her mothers delusions. Vivian Miranda, and the 20-year-old sister Serena were arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The mother had become increasingly interested in Santeria, a mixture of ancient African-based rituals and Christianity. But Charity Miranda apparently refused to go along with her mother's beliefs, police said. The girl's father died just a week before, police said. The mother said at first that the girl had fallen down the stairs, but police determined she had been suffocated. Neighbors in the middle-class town about 45 miles east of New York City were stunned. ``They're three lovely daughters,'' said one woman. ''They're all-American, clean-cut cheerleader kids. It's a big shock.''19-JAN-98

What is Senteria? It is a religion that has rituals that involves animals that some say is a cult. It has a long history and has roots in Cuba.
