Nine Day Coleslaw

Grate 3 pound head cabbage (about 12 cups).
Combine with 1 medium chopped onion, 2 cups chopped carrots and 1 chopped
green pepper. Cover with 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups sugar. Let sit while 1 cup
vinegar, 3/4 cup salad oil, 2 Tablespoons sugar, 3 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons
celery seed, and 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed comes to a boil. Pour over cabbage.
Refrigerate for 24 hours. Keep leftovers in refrigerator
