This was Arch Thompson's very favorite.
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 cup Crisco
6 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
Bring eggs and butter to room temperature. Cream
sugar, butter, and Crisco. Add 2 eggs and vanilla and mix. Add part of flour
and mix. Add 2 more eggs and mix; then part of flour and mix. Add 2 more eggs
and mix. Then add rest of flour and mix well. Pour into greased and floured
tube or loaf pan. Bake 1 hour at 325 degrees.
