The Communications Room and Northwest "Parlor"

These two rooms on the first floor served as the center of the Sheriff's working quarters.  The Communications Room, now the office of the Emergency Management's secretary, Tina Bryant, was originally the radio room. Shown here are the only two radios used to monitor the county.  The one on the left was for the Fire Department, and the one on the right for the Sheriff's office.  Just twenty-four years ago, the county was run as a "Mom/Pop" operation.

The next room, labeled "Northwest Parlor," was the Sheriff's office.  Now it is utilized by Holmes County Emergency Management Director, Dennis Fitzpatric.

The Sheriff's office operated for years without radios, it was only in the early 1970s (as indicated by the picture above)was there only two radios.  Officers on the road had no radios in their cars; they used pay telephones if a problem occurred.
