Wand Sizing Information

This may contain information you already have, but I try to cover most points that are required and give a few recommendations. For the pinless wands you will not need to size D3 or D7.

D1 Wand length, I have made them from 1" or 25.4mm, to 9" or 228.5 mm. I find that a 3 1/2" or 89 mm is a good starter size for most. If you find out later that your choice was too long, I will cut it back and there is no charge, you only pay postage. If the wand is over 4" or 101 mm, there is an added charge for the extra length.

D2 Pin setback, this is the distance from your P/A piercing to the end of the urethra; in most cases it will be from 3/8" to 3/4" depending on the P/A location, but they are all different!

D3 Pin length, you will have to put something in the urethra, (see sampler set on item D6) and then take a small dowel, or a toothpick and put through the P/A piercing until it intersects the item in the urethra, then measure that distance. Most that I do are from 1/8" or 3.2 mm to 1/2" or 12.7 mm, but there is no standard, each wand I make is different!

D4 Front ball, depending on the pipe size, I would recommend 7/16" or 11 mm, 1/2" or 12.7 mm, 5/8" or 16 mm. Sizes over 5/8" or 16 mm are more costly and I pass it along, pricing on request. I have balls in stock up to 1 1/16" or 27mm.

D5 Pinball, most that I do are 3/8" or 9.5 mm.

D6 Wand diameter, this is a tough one. If you are not a sounder, you may not have an idea of what size you have for your urethra. I make a stainless steel sampler set that includes 1, 2" (51mm) x 1/4" (6.3mm), 1, 2" (51mm) x 5/16" (8mm), and 1, 2" (51mm) x 3/8" (9.5mm). Each has a rounded end for ease of insertion, and in this way you can get the correct sizes from the start. They also work well for help with measuring the D3 dimension. I charge $16.00 within the USA, and $20.00 for out of country, for the set and that includes postage. If the wand is over 3/8" or 9.5 mm in diameter, there is also an extra charge.

D7 The pin size, this will be the pa size you have. The bigger the better here, as the larger P/A sizes better support the weight of the wand. I have made cross pins from 10g to 000g.

Taper, if you want a wand tapered, there is a $20.00 charge, as it requires an additional machine operation. If the wand D6 size is less than 5/16", I will not taper the wand, as it will not leave enough material to radius the inner end of the wand.

Slave rings on the D4 or D5 ball are an additional $25.00

Glans ring, if you want an over the top ring, the best way to measure it is to go to your hardware store and get a few "O" rings, find one that fits not tight and not loose, just a good fit while flaccid. Another way is to take a piece of string and wrap it around the glans area, mark it, then measure the length. I can work with that.
