Here's what I have so far. Before making the changes we talked about.

Dr. Ami Suuri was well known and well loved surgeon in America, but after her husband and several friends were killed in a terrorist attack on the White House, she left her career and took her three children to Africa. In Africa, she found that not only would the children now be able to be near their grandmother a lot more, but she also still had the chance to practice medicine. Only now, she could do it without constant harassment from police and reporters. Yes, Africa seemed like an ideal spot to raise her family, except for one thing; the friends she had grown so close to and had come to call her family were half a world away.

It was one day in late June, as Ami was walking back to the building where she and her mother had set up their practice, she heard a strange noise coming from somewhere in the south. She glanced in the direction to see if she could get an idea what it was when something she could only describe as having come from a science fiction movie fell from the sky. She watched what she believed to be a military airplane crash a few miles north of their village. Thankfully, the area was uninhabited, but also in the middle of the desert. Whoever was piloting that thing would probably need medical help. It would be dark soon and the temperature would turn bitterly cold. She ran into her mother's surgery and told her what happened. They left Ami's three children with a friend and drove the elder Dr. Mizuno's truck toward the crash site.

As they got closer, both women soon realized something wasn't right. Instead of burning wreckage, there was merely a section of smooth glass. Next to the glass, were several people in strange costumes, one of whom Ami thought looked vaguely familiar. Standing in the middle of the group of obviously frightened people was a short figure in a somewhat revealing black leather outfit. Ami would have thought it a mirage, had her mother not seen the same thing. She was certain of the person's identity, only as they drove closer and a woman with long gray hair stepped forward. Ami climbed out of the truck and smiled at the woman, who seemed hesitant to approach her. "I thought you left for good ten years ago. Welcome back, StarHealer," Ami replied in Japanese.

The woman in gray smiled and took a step toward Ami. As she did, she doubled over in pain and collapsed onto the sand. Ami rushed forward as the other members of StarHealer's group did the same. The mother of three knelt beside her old friend and noticed, for the first time, the bruises along her side. "Yaten, what the--" she paused as her mother came running up beside her. The three aliens with her old friend were watching them both carefully, but seemed to realize they only wanted to help. "I think she just fainted. We need to get her back to the hospital as soon as we can, though. She could have internal injuries."

Dr. Mizuno nodded and went to back to the truck for something. As soon as she was gone, Ami looked at the aliens and asked, in Japanese, if they could understand her. One woman, roughly the same height as the gray-haired woman nodded and stepped forward. It was obvious her arm was broken, but other than that, she seemed okay. "What happened? Why did you crash?"

"We were coming to find old friends. Satellites in orbit, shot at vessel," the woman replied in broken Japanese. "StarHealer was talking to ... second when vessel hit."

"Are you from Kinmoku?" the young doctor asked. Before the woman could answer, her mother returned with a backboard and helped Ami move the fallen senshi. With the help of one of the others, they were able to get her onto the truck. As they were leaving, they could hear helicopters approaching. Ami concentrated for a moment and fog soon covered the area where the crash occurred. It would be many days before the local government found the large patch of glass, as a sandstorm would cover it later that evening.

The local government sent agents out to the area where the doctors were to ask if them or the surrounding villagers if they had seen anything strange in the last few days. Both Drs. Mizuno and Suuri denied having seen anything, as did the villagers that worked with them. When asked about the new faces in the hospital, Ami's mother replied that they were her assistants and that one of them had fallen ill almost a week before. The others had gone to the nearest town, which happened to be two day's travel to the south, for more supplies and had only returned the night before, so they couldn't have seen anything.

The agents left, satisfied that no one in the group had seen anything. They were still no closer to explaining the mysterious glass, but were willing to chalk it up to natural phenomenon. It had, after all, been an unusually hot summer in that region. After she was sure they were gone, Ami returned to Yaten's bedside. A thorough examination revealed no internal injuries, but she did have several broken and/or bruised ribs. "It's a good thing they didn't want to talk to your friend. She might have said a little too much," her mother replied from the doorway.

"That's why I tried to keep them out of here. There are so many secrets she could let slip and never know she did it," Ami replied.

"Then it's a good thing I didn't let them know I was awake, isn't it," Yaten replied from the bed. For reasons unknown to Ami and her mother, Yaten had remained in female form since arriving on the planet. She opened her eyes and smiled slightly at Ami. "Long time no see, Ami-chan."

Ami smiled at her friend. "It's good to see you as well, Yaten. But why have you come back?" She noticed the other woman's gaze travel to her mother and glanced at the older Dr. "Don't worry, she knows. Not everything, but most of it."

Yaten nodded slightly and looked back at Ami. "We came to find you and the others. But first, I have to find some way of contacting Seiya," she replied. She tried to sit up, but was pushed back down by both doctors.

"You can contact your friend later. Right now, you need to relax. Your lucky that crash didn't kill you," Dr. Mizuno replied. One of the twins started crying and she left the room.

Ami noticed the puzzled look on her friends face and told her a brief history of what had happened. She reached the part about the White House as her mother returned with Izumi. "Their father, along with several others, was killed while we were trying to get them out," she replied as she hugged her daughter.

Yaten smiled sadly at the scene and forced herself to sit up before the doctors could stop her, grimacing only slightly. "I told the others we should have stayed in contact with all of you," she replied. "But things were just too strained back home. We didn't have time to think about that."

"You still haven't explained why you're here," Ami replied as the baby calmed down. "Where are Seiya and Taiki?"

"I don't know. Seiya is trying to find Sailor Moon; Taiki is somewhere between here and Kinmoku; and I am trying to find the former to tell him the latter has been attacked," Yaten replied. She noticed the worried look on her friend and shook her head. "Don't worry, he's okay. The ship he's on, though, isn't. I have to find Seiya and tell him what's going on. The communicator doesn't seem to work from space, though."

Dr. Mizuno sighed and looked at her daughter. "I'm afraid your friend won't find Sailor Moon. A lot has changed, most of all Usagi," she replied.

"Mother's right," Ami began. "The Sailor Moon you knew is gone. Once you get better, we'll go see her. Maybe we'll even meet Seiya along the way." She stood and lightly pushed the smaller woman back down. "Get some rest for now. Doctor's orders."

As they were turning to leave, Yaten spoke up, "What about the others? The ones that survived the crash?"

Ami turned and smiled at her. "They're safe. Don't worry about them," she replied. She smiled again and left the room. She carried her daughter out of the room and smiled at the one she had spoken to on the first day. "She's fine, but she needs her rest. Make sure no one bothers her." She gave the same instructions to one of the nurse's aides and left to feed her daughter.
