Lil'Bit
Hi Everyone. My name is Princess
Moriarity, but you can call me Lil'Bit.
Everybody else does! I got my name because two black cats named
Sherlock
and Watson adopted me, and I was definitely their nemesis! I am
an
11-year-old Calico short-hair with white bib and paws. I got my
"everyday
name" because I was just a "little bit of a thing"
when Meowmie brought me
home. It was that or "Pip-squeak" because I squeaked
instead of meowing, but
I'm glad that Lil'Bit won.
I started life as an outdoor kitty, until my fur mofur was hit
by a car
when I was only about four weeks old. I sat under those evergreens
and
meowed my little heart out. I must have done a good job, because
some high
school students stopped and picked me up and drove me to the police
station.
The lady there brought me inside her office so the kids could
go to school,
and called the Kitty Cop to come pick me up. Well, by the time
he got there,
I had walked on the keyboards, meowed on the radio, and found
a comfy perch
on her shoulder. It's a good thing she had a soft heart, because
I really
didn't like the accommodations in the kitty cage at the d*g pound.
She came
and got me that afternoon and took me to my new home, where Sherlock
& Watson
were putty in my paws in a matter of minutes.
Since then, we have moved twice, and Mr Sherlock has gone to the
Rainbow
Bridge. I am still the reigning queen of the roost, no matter
what my
housemates will tell you. I am the official meeter-and-greeter
of the
household, going to the door every time someone knocks. I am also
the
laundry manager, plumbing inspector, and crunchy taster. While
I have filled
out a bit with the passing years, I am still very compact and
muscular. I
enjoy going outside every day, no matter what the weather. I patrol
my
territory, then find a sunny spot to lie down and watch the world
go by.
We have two younger cats in the household now, and they keep me
on my
toes. It's so hard to teach kitts manners these days! You'd think
they
would have more respect for their elders. But I do what I can.
I am a very
independent lady, with no romantic interests at this time. After
living with
Watson for these 11 years, it almost seems like we are common-law
wedwinks.
About two years ago meowmie was playing on the computer, and found
a
place called CLAW. Naturally, I was the first one to join, and
jumped right
in with all four paws. Then the little kids found it, and I sorta
got
eclipsed by Day-Late. He was into everything, and became Mr Popularity
in a
hurry. But I stayed with my favorite groups: OCS, Purr Scouts,
Purring Paws,
and now Cats on Line. I have a number of adopted Grandkitties
out there, and
I still correspond with some of them.
But Purring Paws was always my first love, for as independent
as I am, I
still like the idea of helping others. I purred quietly in the
background
for quite a while, and then the position of Corresponding Secretary
opened
up, and Penny asked if I would like to take on some responsibility.
So I
started sending cards out every week, and Penny asked if maybe
I would like
to try a purr report some time. Well, before I even got to practice,
Penny
had to leave because of family obligations, and the next thing
I knew I was a
group leader! So I had to learn some HTML in a hurry, and buckle
down and
get organized. But it is still my first love, and I love to get
thank you
notes from kitties and humans who have gotten better after we
purred for
them. Never Underestimate the Power of the Purr.
The years have been kind to me overall. I have my health, my mobility,
and a well-ordered household. I have an obedient human. I have
companionship, and my companions respect my occasional desire
to be left
alone. I have everything a kitty could desire: a warm and loving
home, food
in my dish, fresh water whenever I want it, and a human slave
to fulfill my
every whim. What more could a kitty ask for?
