Season 3

3.01: “Bye, Bye Burnsie”

Bart discovers that Montogmery Burns has recently passed away. He decides to look into investing in the power plant but soon realises that Herb has done so first – with all of Herb’s money. Bart ends up calling the police. Herb is thrown in prison, where he explains his baby translator business failed and he was willing to do anything to get money. The police take this the wrong way and think he murdered Burns.

3.02: “The Wood Life”

Bart and Lisa return to Shrubsville only to discover their entire neighborhood has a bad case of termites and Milhouse and Lucy have been living in the community center. Realising they will be stuck there for a while, Bart convinces everyone to help him spruce up the place but regrets asking when it ends in disaster. Meanwhile, Marge is not sure whether she should help Herb in his upcoming court hearing.

3.03: “Flash Simpson”

Lucy encourages Bart to start looking for another job, and after finding an old camera in the attic, he considers becoming a photographer for the local Shrubsville newspaper. However, he takes advantage of the camera and the neighbors begin to get very angry. Meanwhile, Lucy and Lisa realise how hated the Simpson name is now and so they decide to win back respect for the Simpsons family.

3.04: “From Burns to Smither-reens”

Bart and Lisa return to Springfield for Herb’s hearing and Marge is outraged when he doesn’t receive any punishment. She later realises that he wants to win back her heart, and with the help of Lisa, she tries to find out whether it is worth getting into things with him again. Meanwhile, Bart decides to help a very depressed and suicidal Waylon Smithers find a new job, preferably as an assisant.

3.05: “The Swear Bear Bunch”

Bart and Lucy decide to take James to a local children’s activity center run by a group of people dressed as bears. At the end of the day, they realise James has learnt some profanity, and they immediately blame the “bears” and Lucy insists they do something about it. Meanwhile, upon returning home, Marge discovers that she is pregnant once again; possibly resulting from the one time she had sex with Herb.

3.06: “The Furnishing Touch”

Bart decides to help out in the neighbors’ yard sale, but realises he has been tricked into helping a dangerous criminal steal all their posessions. With the help of Milhouse, he tries to track down the criminal before the real neighbors return from vacation, but it proves more difficult than they thought. Meanwhile, Marge tries to find the right time to tell Herb that she is pregnant but things constantly get in the way.

3.07: “All the Wrong Movies”

Bart, Lucy, Milhouse and Lisa are all invited to the premiere of Bobby Falcon’s latest movie, which receives poor reviews. Bobby asks Bart to help him win back the media’s respect when he fears his career is over. However, this proves difficult. Meanwhile, Marge tells Lisa that she is pregnant and Lisa is stunned. Herb then tells Marge that he wants to be a good father to the baby.

3.08: “Losing Grampa Simpson”

Lisa receives a call from the Springfield Retirement Castle explaining that Abe Simpson has been diagnosed with cancer and may die at any moment. She travels there to spend some time with him but she fears that she may have ruined things when she brings up the discussion of funeral arrangements. Lisa is upset when she is ordered to leave by a worker. Meanwhile, Bart worries cancer runs in the family.

3.09: “Coffeehouse Blues”

Bart decides to spend the evening at the coffeehouse after a hard day of babysitting Dennis. However, he later realises that he has been banned from the place ever since he quit. Now, Bart must make a choice – ask for his old job back to allow access to the place, or find somewhere else. He settles for the latter, but later realises that there is no going back. Meanwhile, Lisa and Milhouse decide to redecorate James’ bedroom.

3.10: “Grand Theft Otto”

Milhouse realises that it is time he got his driving license after Lisa gets fed up with taking him everywhere. He is shocked to discover that his old busdriver Otto is now the driving instructor. The test begins but Milhouse realises that Otto is high, ruining the test and eventually making the police chase after them. Meanwhile, Lisa is worried about Milhouse when the story appears on the daily news.

3.11: “Greed All About It”

Bart manages to get himself a job at the Shrubsville newspaper and finds himself popular among his co-workers when he comes up with embarassing stories about his friends. However, he is not so happy about this when he discovers that they have printed the stories in the daily newspapers. Bart must round up all copies of the Shrubsville Times before his friends read them, but it proves next to impossible.

3.12: “Marry on Van Houten”

Milhouse is shocked when he realises that the minister at his and Lisa’s wedding was not licensed and techichnally they are not married. Milhouse manages to let things slip and Lisa is outraged. She demands another ceremony, but Milhouse takes this the wrong way and thinks she wants a proper one. Meanwhile, Bart visits Grampa in hospital and discovers cancer may run in the Simpsons family.

3.13: “Of Ice and Men”

A snowstorm hits Shrubsville and Bart manages to slip up in the ice, causing him to break his ankle. Confined to crutches for a couple of weeks, he can’t do any fun activities and gets depressed. Determined not to feel left out, he decides to form a team for the upcoming snowboarding race and regrets making a bet with someone else when he realises how bad his team is. Meanwhile, Milhouse has trouble with the cold.

3.14: “Woodfellas”

Bart and Milhouse decide to take James and Dennis camping in the woods outside of Shrubsville. Things get off to a shaky start when a grizzly bear takes all their food supplies. Now, they must find a way to get back home, but Dennis constantly crying and James constantly whining doesn’t help them out. Meanwhile, when Becky feels left out, Lucy and Lisa try to spend some quality time with her.

3.15: “Take the Shoes and Run”

A discussion around the water cooler at the Shrubsville Times turns into an fierce argument when Bart discovers all his co-workers think he isn’t very fit. Determined to prove them wrong, he decides to enter the upcoming Shrubsville marathon but ends up regretting this decision after realising what kind of people he will be up against. Meanwhile, Milhouse and Lisa decide to give James and Becky swimming lessons.

3.16: “Sex and the Shrubsville”

Bart and Lucy are outraged when they discover the alley behind their house is a popular place for teenagers to have sex with eachother. Lucy hassles Bart to do something but he ends up getting beaten up by a group of rowdy teens. Determined to please Lucy, he decides to take up karate lessons. Meanwhile, Milhouse and Lisa decide to refurbish their living room but Lisa takes things too far and spends too much.

3.17: “Boy Story”

Marge invites Bart and Lisa over for dinner in Springfield and she explains that she will be having a baby boy and has allowed Herb to move in so he can help with parenthood. Bart is still not sure whether this is the right thing to do but realises he is just not comfortable with the fact that Marge is no longer with Homer. Meanwhile, Lisa enjoys spending time with Maggie and misses the days they did the same in New York.

3.18: “And They Call it Bobby Love”

Bobby Falcon is back in Shrubsville, and ever since his movie career plummeted, he has been having trouble with the ladies. He decides to ask Bart to help him win back his “charm” but it proves more difficult than expected. Meanwhile, Maggie pays a visit to Lisa and Milhouse, with her new boyfriend Zack, who turns out to be a self-centred, selfish guy. Lisa feels uncomfortable with her sister dating him.

3.19: “The Fast Food and the Furious”

After conducting a report on fast food in Shrubsville, Bart realises he is beginning to get a little overweight and decides to go on a diet. After days of working out and eating less, he realises he is getting nowhere and decides to go to boot camp for two weeks. Milhouse decides to accompany him, but they both realise just how tough this fortnight will be. Meanwhile, Maggie considers moving in with Lisa temporarily.

3.20: “She’s Company”

Maggie has packed up all her posessions and plans to move in with Lisa temporarily. Milhouse is not happy about this and freaks out even more when he realises that Maggie may have a crush on him. He tells Lisa, but she doesn’t believe him. However, when she catches Maggie giving Milhouse a peck on the cheek for thanks, she takes it the wrong way and orders Milhouse out of the house. He must prove the truth.

3.21: “The Amy of the Game”

Milhouse is exasperated when his ex-wife Amy Williams turns up at the house, with his 12-year old son, Malcolm. Amy explains that her parents in Chicago moved away to Florida and she had no place else to turn. Milhouse allows her to move in for a while, but with Maggie there as well, the place is getting a little cramped. Lisa doesn’t like Amy being around, especially since they were friends and she is now with Milhouse.

3.22: “Milhouse in the Middle”

Amy plans to move back to New York, but realises that it isn’t a suitable environment for Malcolm to spend his childhood years. She asks Milhouse to take care of him, and so he must make a tough choice. Milhouse accepts without asking Lisa for permission, and Lisa infuriated. With three children around the house, things get a little chaotic. Meanwhile, Bart is happy when he gets the chance to write an article in the newspaper.

3.23: “Bart of the Matter”

Bart is happy when he gets a promotion at the Shrubsville Times, making him a full-time journalist. He hears a rumor that anyone who doesn’t come up with an excellent story within one week is demoted, and so he becomes determined to get to work. However, he ends up losing a lot of sleep and Lucy drags him to a sleep therapist. Meanwhile, Milhouse has trouble bonding with his 12-year old son Malcolm.

3.24: “Lisa, May I Sleep With Danger?”

Milhouse realises he hasn’t slept with Lisa in over six months and tries to find some time alone with her. However, things keep getting in the way and so they ask Bart, Lucy and Maggie to babysit the three children so they can spend some time with just themselves. Milhouse later discovers that Lisa isn’t in the mood and has felt depressed ever since Maggie moved in. Meanwhile, Maggie enjoys spending time with Malcolm.

3.25: “Marge Has a Baby”

Marge has gone into labour and has given birth to her baby boy. Bart, Lisa and Maggie travel to Springfield to see the baby and are shocked to discover that Herb missed the entire event. Bart decides to search for him. Meanwhile, Maggie surprises everyone by announcing she is planning to buy a small home in the outskirts of Shrubsville. Lisa worries about leaving Malcolm in charge of the house for a few hours. 1
