March 23, 1776

Gent,

We enclose you a Copy of a Resolve of this Committee, pass'd this day, in which is left a blank for the names of the persons who are to be intrusted [sic] with the Service. And we beg you would fill up the same with the names of such prudent, active, trusty persons as you can engage to undertake the same. Upon your certifying to us who the persons are that you employ, we will pay their draughts on this Board for the Sums necessary to purchase the Arms. We beg you would forward this Service as much as possible, and are, &c.

To the Committees of Philada County, Bucks County, Chester County, Lancaster County, York County, Cumberland, Berks and Northampton.

Resolved, That __________________  are appointed to purchase, on the most reasonable Terms, of all such persons who do not associate, and such associators who have spare Muskets, as many good Muskets as they can procure in the County of __________________, & send them from time to time to Mr. Robert Towers, our Commissary, in this City [Philadelphia], & this Board will advance such sums as shall be necessary to pay for the same.
