| The City has received signed petitions from the owners of 152 of the homes in Old Stage. The community is still collecting signatures and anticipates reaching the 70% threshold, required by the City, within the next few weeks. The City is preparing a legal description of the subdivision and introduction of the legislation to annex Old Stage will most likely occur in January. After introduction, State law requires the City to advertise the proposed annexation for four weeks in a local newspaper. Fifteen days after the last advertisement, the City must hold a Public Hearing. A letter will be sent to each household notifying them of the date and time of the Hearing. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend and if you wish to speak at the hearing you can contact the City Clerk, Pam Fleming at 301-809-3029. Following the Public Hearing, the City Council will vote on the annexation. Forty-five days after the Council votes, the annexation becomes effective and Old Stage will be officially incorporated into the City of Bowie.
