Good, now let your eyes adjust to the light of the kerosene lamps and I'll show you around.  Over toward the back there's a large hearth; the granite stones of it's masonary have become a bit sooty over the years, but we keep a fire going and there's always some split wood stacked up if you get chilly and would care to add more.

Have a look at the photos on that large split log mantle over the fire place.  Our collection of adventure, climbing, and summit photos has become quite large over the years.  Some are old and the color has become a bit faded, some of the black and whites have yellowed and cracked.  Never the less our patrons seem to bring more; I guess it's the nature of the place, people come here to reflect on the grand climbs they'e done and dream about the next ascent.

The Mantle
Before you have a seat you may want to explore our library, we have an extensive collection, all the classics in fact.  Of course there are Harrer, Bonnington, and Herzog, just to name a few; but I'm particularly proud of our short stories and essays.  Just make a selection, blow off the dust, and get perfectly cozy in a chair by the fire.  Never mind that the chairs are tippy; they defy leveling on this plank floor that's been worn by the scuffing of so many boots.
The Library
Where we are never particularly crowded and the patrons are never rambunctious or vulgar.  Climbers come here for solitude or respectful discussion as it pleases them.  Not that the conversation does'nt become, shall we say spirited and opinionated, since that's the very nature of climbers.

Regardless of how you choose to spend your time, we're glad your here.  If you let it, time can lengthen and slip away while you linger, the way the shadows of the pines and firs become long in the early evening.  We are all climbers here, and as we all know times like these are hard to come by in between climbs.  Return often, since the route is seldom the same even when you've climbed it before.
