Coach Richard G Gebauer III(Head Boys Cross Country Coach

Coach Gebauer, a 1974 graduate of Slippery Rock State College, is in his 19th year as head coach in cross country. He started his cross country coaching career at Cedar Ridge High School in 1985 and took over the reigns at Old Bridge High School in 1994. Gebauer caoched varsity football at Madison Central High School from 1977-1983, between coaching stints at St. Thomas Aquinas H.S. in and at Cedar Ridge in 1976 and 1984. He coached sub varsity and varsity wrestling, from 1977 through the 1989 season at Cedar Ridge High School. He closed out his wrestling career in 1989 as head coach with a 15-4-1 record, guiding his team to a tie for most wins in a season. He is presently the assistant winter and spring track coach at Old Bridge, specializing in the distance events.

Gebauer's cross country teams have won 12 Red-Division Championships, 14 Greater Middlesex Conference Championships, 7 Central Jersey State Championships, and 3 Group State Championships. Coach Gebauer has received the Greater Middlesex conference coach of the year award 14 times. He has also receive a number of awards from the Home News Tribune and has twice been named State Coach of the Year for the Star Ledger. Coach Gebauer was inducted into the NJSCA Coaches Hall of Fame in 2001. This past year GEbauer was presented the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association Sports Award for recognition of service and contributions in interscholastic athletics.

Coach Gebauer believes that with good hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, the athletes from Old Bridge can compete with top teams not only in and out of the state of New Jersey.

Coach Marty Holleran(Assistant Boys Cross Country Coach)

Coach Holleran, a graduate of Rutgers University where he was a 4 year letter winner in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, joins Old Bridge cross country as the assistant coach this year. In 1981 he began his coaching career at Highland Park High School where his team won the Middlesex County Championship during the 1982 inddor season. In 1983 he began coaching at Metuchen High School and has been the head cross country, indoor and outdoor track coach for the past 20 years. During those 20 years at Metuchen, his corss country teams have posted a 194-13 dual meet record. They have won 14 Blue Division titles, 3 State Sectional titles, and 1 Group I Championship. In addition, his XC teams have qualified for the Meet of Champions 7 times. The Indoor and Outdoor Track teams have a combined record of 218-22, winning 31 Blue Division titles. His teams have also won 5 GMC Championships and have been the runner-up 11 times. At the state level, his teams have won a State Record 11 straight Central Jersey Group I titles and 12 overall. His teams have also won 12 State Group I Championships during the indoor and outdoor seasons. Coach Holleran's 4X400 teams have won the Meet of Champions and the Millrose Games 2 times and have medallists 12 different times at the Meet of Champions. In 1997 his Indoor 4X400 teams set anew state record and was named to the all American team. Over the least 20 years he has coached 6 meet of champions winners and 10 Meet of Champions medallists in a wide variety of events. Coach Holleran has received Coach of the Year honors from the Home News Tribune, The Star Ledger, and the GMC. He understands the hard work and dedication all runners put into their sport and respects any runner who is willing to work and compete. He expects all runners to be working to improve themselves.
