The firm of G. Hall & Sons, was founded by George Hall in 1851 from modest manufacturing premises at Dudley Rd, Marryatville. His early brew of ginger beer was sold to customers in nearby suburbs, delivery was achieved with the aid of a hand-truck.

His gingerbeer, and sodawater, being found popular and with increasing demand, made it necessary to move to larger premises. In 1872 George, with sons: Henry, James, Thomas and Edward, moved to Edward St, Norwood, where they purchased the property owned by Mr. Mayhew, a soap and candle manufacturer. The site contained a factory and dwelling, which was used until 1926, when it was demolished to make room for large extensions to the factory.

The business of G. Hall & Sons, Norwood, sold to the Coca Cola Company in 1972.

The photo taken in 1997 depicts the former Hall's Factory in Edward St, Norwood, which was build in 1926.
