The business was commenced in 1849 by Joseph Onesimus Ladd.
After Joseph's demise, in 1882, his widow Caroline Ladd, later aided by her sons took over the responsibility for the business.
Factory locations included: Hindley, Flinders and Rundle Street's, Adelaide.
By 1884 a new factory had been built at College Park, with production continueing until ceasing operations in 1957.
