Adelaide in 1896 looking east.

This photograph looks east from the General Post Office Clock tower along Flinders Street. We note a pair of horse drawn trams. Adelaide in 1896: had an extensive tram system, piped water supply to buildings and houses, together with fire plugs, and one of the best sanitory toilet systems operating in Australia. Adelaide was well served by telegraph and telephone communication and blossomed in 1896 as a most attractive small city of substantial fine structures.
