Incredible early J.O. Ladd Codd's Patent bottle found by Ralph Horn.
Just when you think you've seen everything, along comes another unknown, to titillate the desires of us collectors.
Ralph is an energetic, resourceful and lucky digger.
He toiled very hard one day in 1989 to dig up the featured early Codd's patent bottle.
It's plain to look at! but anyone who views a one only bottle, can't help but feel envy for it's rescuer.
The bottle once belonged to Joseph Onesimus Ladd, who commenced in business as a ginger beer brewer and aerated water manufacturer from premises in Rundle St, Adelaide, in 1849.
After his death in 1882, his widow Caroline took over the prosperous expanding business. Successive generations continued to trade until 1957.
The featured Codd dates 1879.
The bottle in (2001) remains a-one-only. |
