| LINDA MEETS A WORLD RULER The day that President William Jefferson Clinton came to visit Galesburg was a big day for the town. National news organizations were floating all over. Security people were falling all over each other. Signs were placed in yards and businesses. Linda, as President of the local Trades and Labor, had been invited to meet Mr. Clinton. I was also invited since I had worked with the advance party at the Galesburg White House. (This "White House" was a couple of motel rooms with a FAX machine!) We were invited, and quickly accepted, to sit with the group from Congressman Lane Evans office to hear the president's speech. Later we were ushered into the library at the Carl Sandburg College where we were allowed to shake hands with, and briefly speak with, the President. It was a unique experience. some of the people at Ethan's school knew that Linda and I were going to be there. When we picked up Ethan after his school day several of the other mother's came out to shake hands with Linda. "I just wanted to shake the hand that shook the hand," one of them told her. I suppose that Mr. Clinton was an important person. But, years before this Linda had met a Man Whose importance so overshadowed the President's as to make Mr. Clinton seem as unimportant as rock and dirt. When Linda was barely a teen she met the Person Who is the ruler of not just this nation, not even just this world; she met Jesus Christ. He is the Ruler and Sustainer of the entire Universe! "He that cometh from above is above all; he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. (John 3:21)" Accept Jesus as your Savior. Do it today! |
