Side
effects can occur with all medications. A rare, but serious, side effect that
has been reported with antipsychotic medicines known as NMS or neuroleptic malignant
syndrome. NMS is characterized by muscle rigidity and fever. Other serious side
effects, which have been reported, include tardive dyskinesia (uncontrollable
muscle movements), elevated blood sugar, diabetes and suicide. The most common
side effects reported in clinical studies were drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness,
constipation, weakness, abdominal pain, sudden drop in blood pressure when standing,
sore throat, abnormal liver tests, upset stomach, the feeling
that your body is about to jump out of your skin, blindness, and weight
gain.
