German Online  News: Volume 1, Edition 2

April 14th 2000 : German Online is one year old today  
German Online started life exactly a year ago today, but under a different name, UKLanguages. In the early days it was a basic collection of grammar revision notes for students, known as  ' Links ' . The name German Online  was first used in October  of 1999, and over the past twelve months the site has gone through three major changes, ending up with the current graphical interface. To celebrate German Online's first birthday, here are some interesting facts about the site and its users.
   
How many users?
The number of users increases every day. At the time of writing, there have been over 7,200 visitors to the site since it was first online ! A massive achievement for us !
   
Where in the world...?
Over 200 countries from all over the world hold links to the site . They come from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Mexico, N. Ireland, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Russia, Scotland,  Spain, Sweden, USA, and Wales and many more. All of them interested in learning German .
   
Technical stuff...
42% of German Online  users are running Windows 98 and another 42% have Windows 95. Macintosh users account for 4% of you - and German Online was created on a PC .  A huge 71% of you use Internet Explorer 4.x, with 17% using IE 5.x and the remainder of users using older versions of Internet Explorer or other browsers.
   
Why Friday???
Interestingly, Friday is the most popular day for users to access German Online ! By the looks of things, users access the site from school or work, since the fewest hits are at the weekend.
