| These "paintings" were once accused of being "in the naive style". Er...that wasn't the intention. They are not great art (whatever that is), there is no great political or aesthetic meaning to them. They were an expression of nostalgia for my time in the desert (which you can - eventually - read about here). And I enjoyed painting them. That's all... |

| Help! Jane, there's a sunspider crawling towards my head (no.1) is, as far as I know, still hanging in the Republica 24 de Marco in Porto. ...and amongst those of us who were there during the incident that these pictures were inspired by, there was divided opinion as to whether the creature in question was actually a solpugid (sunspider) or a jerusalem cricket. After consulting the Sierra Club's guide to the ecology of the region, I have plumped for the solpugid.... |
