ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Colorado

Established 1915

President The park combines magnificent wild life with the awe-inspiring peaks towering over 13,000 feet high, creating part of Continental Divide.  In 1925 Biologist Charles Adams said "the idea of wild or wilderness national park is distinctly American idea...the European tradition is about formal park design rather than large wild parks.".  (apr)
