2004 Theme: MAKING A DIFFERENCE
2004 Objectives:
1. Ratification of updated Constitution and By-Laws
2. Obtain Tax-Exemption Status as a Non-Profit Organization
3. Implement Tagalog classes for members and families
4. Initiate a separate fund for a future permanent home for the Association.
A building to be called the “PAANO Cultural Center” (PCC).
5. Establish a youth group to provide knowledge and appreciation of the Philippine-American Culture
6. Creation of the Policy and Procedure Manual for the Association
7. Continued fellowship among members through social and cultural activities and to support the various programs of the Association
Recent
Events:
The vote to ratify the Proposed Amendments of the Constitution and By-Laws took place on March 27th but failed to pass due after concerns were expressed by a number of members in regard to specific wording of current document. The required percentage approval of voting members present was not attained.
An
improved and updated alternative was also presented but the vote was
rescheduled to June 5th following concerns expressed at meeting that
it too should undergo the same ‘two month advance notice’ provision.
The
later document is the result of broader input and greater collaborative efforts
between former presidents, officers and members.
Is
it a perfect document? No. Is this a better document? In our point view, Absolutely. The officers strongly
believe it’s approval is in the best interest of the Association and
members.
We encourage you to make a difference… please come and vote for approval of the updated proposed Amendments of the Constitution and By-Laws on June 5, 2004 at the Tulsa Hardesty Library , 200 p.m..

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Looking for Few Good Children who want to share their talents in writing, singing, dancing, acting, playing musical instruments and others for our Fund Raising Event “HANDOG” on June 12, 2004 to celebrate Philippine Independence Day and to Honor our Parents and Grandparents.
Participants and children
below 5 years old are free. Entrance
fee for members will be $2.00 and for non-members $3.00. Proceeds will go to the PAANO Youth Group
and Scholarship Program.
POEM WRITING CONTEST about Mother/Father/Grandparents for ages 5-10
SHORT STORY WRITING CONTEST (at least 100 words) about your memorable visit to the Philippines for ages 11-14.
ESSAY WRITING CONTEST (at least 100 words) about the theme of the Association this year “Making A Difference”. How? Why? Ages 15-18.
Please send your entries before May 27th. Please include your name, age and the category you’re interested in. There will be a Screening Committee who will decide the winners.
Winners will receive special gifts and will have the opportunity to present their entry to the public.
Please sign up for our Summer Program. Mrs. Vinda Doring is our Teacher/Coordinator assisted by Tong Cachero. Classes start on the 19th of June through the 7th of August at Broken Arrow Public Library at 101st and Aspen (145th) from 3:00-4:30 PM. We offer classes for children ages 6-12 and for adult ages 13 and up. Enrolment forms will be available at the Easter Picnic and at the Phil-Asia Store.
We are also accepting volunteers to teach or assist during classes. All materials will be provided; we just need your time and energy.

Better find out!!! Come and bring your pompoms and cheer your favorite team at First United Methodist Church at 11th and Main (Broken Arrow)! Games are scheduled every Saturday from April 3rd till the end of May. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for the Championship Game on June 5th. Please contact Victor Duran, President-elect and Sports Coordinator or any of the officers, which teams are competing. See you at the game on Saturdays!!!
We are looking for
participants for the Barrio Fiesta. If
you are interested in dancing, singing or acting, etc., please contact Rossini
Richardson, Guia Buzzard, Vinda Doring or Tong Cachero. If you have a special cultural presentation
we haven’t seen before, or your time and energy to help out during this big
event, please let us know. We want
you!!!
That’s our theme for the August Pageant!! We are looking for 4 interested candidates who are willing to raise money and show their talents. If you are the one, please contact Guia Buzzard and Kay Dalisay by May 27th.
