So this is by far my favorite dress, and the most damaging. The first one I was allowed to complete mostly on my own, after helping mom out with some stitching work. Made in a Medieval style, I based it loosely off of a picture of a woodcarving I found in a book, dating from the 1400s. The fabric is a jacquard, and is actually quite heavy... I believe it needs to be retired this year (2005) once the Faire season is done for it causes me great pain to wear it - back and chest pain by the end of the day as well as bruising on my shoulders and arms. But it is truly a great dress, despite the pain. ^^;; (and believe me, it takes a week for me to recover from aforementioned pains) This dress has seen many Faires - Upper NY, lower NY, PA and MD. I can't remember what year exactly we made this one.. I think it was 2002-ish. There's a pale lavender underdress that you can only see if I lift the main dress. We also made Chris' great Kilt.. he doesn't have his own clan Tartan, so we cheated.. sorry! ::hides:: I have way too many photos of this one, eh? |
