This section is for BITC students 22 Jun 2006 (email to Ms. Lucia) 22nd June 2006 (Reply from Ms. Lucia)

There are some feedbacks provided by my classmates who are unhappy with two things: lecturers and computer lab.
1. Lecturer(s)
BITC T3 students (including myself) are very unhappy with our DMI lecturer. We managed to complete the assignment by the due date. We felt that our lecturer is not well organized or maybe she has no concern for her students. Some of us burnt our assignment on DVDs due to large storage required for movie files. When these students were about to present, she said, “I’m sorry I can’t accept DVD…Please burn a new CD and hand in the assignment before I go home.” We were so shocked. No such information is given earlier or such matters stated on the assignment question paper.
2. Computer Learning Center (CLC)
Most students expect that the computer labs are well equipped with the latest technologies. Most programs installed in the computers are outdated and some (such as Macromedia) require students to key in serial number. With no serial number, students will not be able to use the programs.
Students are also unhappy with the lagging issue. Most computers provide slow processing speed. This causes inconvenience among students who wish to complete a certain amount of tasks in the short run.
SCTSC would take up a food booth at the SYUC Charity Carnival from 7-9 September. We will try to target Community Service students to help out in the stalls and try to raise the most funds. Some of our lecturers are very good cooks!
Jega also mooted the idea of an appraisal system for all SCTSC members such as awarding certain points for certain positions in an organising team. These points will be added up for students to qualify for certificates of achievement from SCTSC.
For the feedback, I have forwarded it to Mr. Kanendran. It is constructive to give credit where it is due and to provide suggestions where necessary. For upgrading of equipment, I wonder if it is possible to work with a company to adopt our labs & to name the labs after them so they will upgrade the labs as often as possible. Just an idea that popped out but who knows???
