| Oklahoma lost a U.S. Congressional seat because the State failed to grow fast enough and with the Democrats in control of the State Senate and the Governor Office, we are in danger of losing another seat. Below is a plan to help our State grow. | |||||||||||||
| 1. Keep the tax system SIMPLE! Eliminate Personal Income Tax Totally to be replaced with a two percent payroll tax to be withheld from the employees paycheck. Eliminate the need for the average Oklahoman to file any tax forms on April 15th. |
| 2. Eliminate the Inheritance Tax (death tax) totally. Senior Citizens have worked all their lives to give their children and grandchildren a better life and the government should not punish hard work and savings. |
| 3. Eliminate the corporate franchise tax. The State could increase the fee to incorporate to $300.00 one-time fee. Most corporations pay a minimum of $10.00 a year. |
| 4. Eliminate the turnpikes. Earmark (5 cents) or a percentage of the gasoline tax to retire the Turnpike Bonds and to maintain the Freeways. Small towns will never grow as long as we have Turnpikes. |
| 5. Need to turn the Department of Transportation up-side-down. All the fuel tax needs to go to roads and bridges. Need a long-term plan to improve every highway in Oklahoma starting with moving the Utilities and having the County Commissioners do the first phrase of dirt work to widen the highways. |
| 6. Why make the citizens file income tax forms for interest received and stock dividends. Just have the Banks and other corporations pay the State Government a percentage, such as 10% of the total dollar amount paid as interest paid or dividends. Similar to sales tax, Simple. |
| 7. Eliminate the property tax and personal property tax on homeowners; a person never owns his home in Oklahoma. If you do not pay the tax every year, the government will kick you out of your home. |
| 8. Statewide sales tax of Ten Percent (10%)Maximum. Keep the program simple, 10% was good enough for GOD, 10% should be good enough for the government. Allocate the Sales Tax as follows: That 1% sales tax be earmarked towards EDUCATION; That 1% sales tax be earmarked towards ROADS; That 2% sales tax be earmarked to County Governments; That 3% sales tax be earmarked to City Governments; That 3% sales tax be earmarked to State Goverments; That is a total of 10% MAXIMUM Statewide Sales Tax With this type of tax system, if the Schools, City, County and State Governments wants more money to spend, they must encourage businesses to move to Oklahoma and current businesses to expand in Oklahoma. |
| 9. Sales tax should be collected on SERVICES at the SAME RATE as PRODUCTS. The Butcher and the Candle-maker collect sales tax so should the Barber. Besides the people of Oklahoma will no longer be paying personal income tax or property tax. Especially need sales tax on food so everyone gets to pay some tax. | |||||||||||||
| 10. Update the State Retirement Plan. The State of Oklahoma needs to adopt a 401K plan like corporations. The State should match the employee up to X percent and stop the unknown expense to the taxpayers for retirement pensions. |
| With the above changes, the State Corporate Income Tax will need to be updated which is another issue but keep it simple. Our Founding Fathers believed that small government and less taxes means more freedom. Contact your State Representatives and State Senators and express your views. |
