Goodbye
It hits me out of nowhere
I see you in my head
Remember things we've done together
And hear the words you've said
The pain goes searing through my heart
And leaves nothing but an empty shell
I know I'm still a mortal upon earth
Yet I'm living in my own little hell
I realize our days are numbered
I know that we must soon part
I'll be taking all my belongings
But leaving pieces of my heart
I'll take the memories with me
Of all the good times we had
And someday I'll smile remembering them
When they don't hurt quite so bad
To know that things are over now
Hurts me more than I can express
But I still want the best for you
I wish you happiness and success
So as I close this door today
Remember this, if you would
My heart won't let me hate you
This might be easier if I could
But when you pause to remember me
Don't think of me this way
Remember the woman I used to be
I'll become her again someday
