Opposite Ends of Crazy
We talked far into the night
About everything that was wrong
We talked rationally without fighting
Something we hadn’t done for so long
We talked about life in general
Happy times we remembered with smiles
We talked about our families
And friendships that survived the miles
Then it got down to the serious talk
The issues between you and me
What will we do about the car
Who gets the computer and the TV
I almost got through without crying
But I did shed a single tear
When we talked about how it was at first
And wondered how we got to here
But I guess I must’ve said something
That cut into your feelings deep
Because suddenly you were yelling at me
Then, drained and angry, we went to sleep
For a while we were swimming toward the shore
But we were quickly pulled back under
And as I remembered how it used to be
I couldn’t help but wonder
Did we really fall out of love
Or did we just become lazy
We’re no longer crazy about each other
We just make each other crazy
