| What is Disc Golf? Disc Golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of using golf balls and clubs, plastic golf discs are thrown from a tee area towards a metal basket. Any flying disc can be used, but "hi-tech" golf discs fly much farther and are less affected by the wind. The object of the game is to complete a course of 18 holes with the fewest amount of throws. Starting from the the tee area, a golf disc is thrown at a metal basket, "the Hole". As the player progresses down the fairway, consective shots are made from the last spot the disc landed, AKA "the Lay". The "Putt" is the last shot taken to rest the disc in the basket, at that time the hole is completed Trees, shrubs, terrain and weather provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Who plays Disc Golf? Disc Golf is designed for people of all skill, age, gender, and economic status. Players merely match their pace to their capabilities. Making Disc Golf one of the greatest lifetime sports available. This fast growing sport was invented in the early 70's in California and has grown worldwide since. There are 46 registered courses in Oklahoma, 13 in the Tulsa area which hosts recreational and competitive play regularly. Muskogee has 1 18-hole course at Civitan Park.
