We decided to go hunt back over at Blanco before the new owners take over.  They already said NO HUNTING OF ANY KIND!  So we thought we better hunt it while we still can.  We got there around 6:30 in the morning and turned the dogs out.  It was a cool morning so we decided to get off of the ranger and walk up into a cain thicket where we had seen some hog sign during deer season.  We took off on a trail that ran along side of Brushy Creek that runs through the ranch.  We stoped about 100 yards from the cain thicket to wait on the dogs cause they were all out busting brush hunting.  We could tell by the way that the dogs were hunting that something had been in there recently.  Sure enough about 5 minutes went by when Lou came bayed up in front of us in the cain thicket.  It wasn't a solid bay yet so we waited until the other dogs got in to her before we started to the bay with the catch dog.  As soon as we got to the cain thicket the dogs went silent.  The hog had busted on them.  He came out of the cain thicket right in front of us with 3 strike dogs and 3 pups hot on his tail!  He jumped off of a 20 foot bluff stright into the water!  The dogs wasted no time and was right in after him.   He swam the creek and reached the other side at the same time as Pete and Lou.  The pups wasnt used to swiming and was having a rough time of it......LOL  (mental note....give the dogs swiming lessons!) We seen that they had him stoped on the other side of the creek so we turned the catch dogs loose and headed to the other side to help the dogs out.  Our catch dogs Bull and Baby swam the creek and had them caught when we got there.  They had him stoped on the bottom side of another 20 bluff.  It took a while but we managed to get him tied and out of the water with out any of the dogs drounding.  We had to drag him back around to the other side of the creek and up the bank to get him back to the ranger.  All in all it was a exciting hunt.  He weighed in at over 250# and had 2 1/2" cutters.  The dogs were a little banged and cut up but not to bad.  I think if them pups learn how to swim they might make good bay dogs.
