I dip my brush and sweep it across my canvas, leaving behind a graceful green curve. There is something acutely beautiful about the arch of a spine, the rise between the shoulder blades, the dip near the base. But he’s laying on his side, so everything should shift. . .

I chew on my lip ring as my brush continues to move, now outlining the smooth column of his neck, his strong shoulders that lead to long arms. As my paintbrush colors in narrow hips and a lean waist, I look up and catch my subject’s eyes. He’s watching me. But I don’t mind. He is always welcome to watch me paint.

We remain there in silence, two pairs of eyes following the path of the colored bristles. And when I decide that I’m finished, I lean back, running a critical eye over my work.

“Impossible,” I murmur softly.

“What is?”

I meet his gaze once more, half-hidden by his blonde fringe. “It’s impossible to make you more beautiful than you already are.”

He flushes a little and shifts under my stare, and he’s so adorable that I can’t help but kiss him. As he responds, I reach out and curl my fingers around one hip, and he laughs into the kiss as my grip slips a little. Then he pulls away and glances down at where my hand rests.

“This stuff had better be washable.”
