| After you click the "ON" button, the unit will attempt to find one of several low altitude orbiting satellites. The lights will blink once each 3 seconds. After some time, the light associated with the message button pushed will stay on for 5 seconds indicating that the message has been sent. You might need to repeat the send a couple-3 times over 20 minutes to ensure that an orbiting satellite is in position to receive the message signal. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| OK button: The SPOT internet site allows for up to 10 e-mail addresses and cell phones to receive an "OK" status message along with a link showing road and satellite views based upon GPS coordinates.
