Osage Hills State Park tracking class
Ranger Vaught shows us how to read footprints. What were the people doing who made these prints. It was easy to tell if the person was walking forward or backwards, carrying something and possible but more difficult is how to tell how fast they are going. In this case, Dewayne thinks they were doing the Texas 2-step!
Rulers are used to measure foot length and width along with stride length.

The water is cloudy if the footprint is recent
If you stand at a distance, you can tell if someone walked through leaves. Ranger Vaught is showing us the impressions leaves and twigs make into the ground if someone stepped on the leaves.
