Black Mesa (Highpoint), OK
Oklahoma's high point is in the Black Mesa. It is located in the far western end of the Oklahoma pan-handle about equa-distance from Colorado, Texas and New Mexico. There is a registry to sign when you get up there.
The trail up to the mesa
The Black Mesa got its name due to the layer of black lava that makes up the top layer of rock.
If you stand next to the high point monument and look to the north east, it looks like that is actuallly higher in altitude than where you are standing. This is an illusion as my GPS verified you actually go down hill when walking in that direction.
We have cows!  no fences!!
