WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Assistant Secretary of the Army Sara Lister resigned her post on Friday, after making derogatory comments about the U.S. Marine Corps.
Lister called the Marines "extremists" at a Harvard University conference in October.
"I think the Army is much more connected to society than the Marines are," she was quoted as telling the meeting. "The Marines are extremists. Whenever you have extremists, you've got some risks of total disconnection with society. And that's a little dangerous."
