there wasnt much revealed about beryl. she was a really mysterious woman. but she had a sad/depressing story to tell.
a thousand years ago, metallia and her minions (including beryl) attacked the moon kingdom. the moon kingdom was ruled by queen serenity and her daughter princess serenity. the princess fell in love with a prince from earth, prince endymion. queen beryl also adored endymion, but endymion despised beryl and loved princess serenity. while attacking the moon, beryl tried all she could to get endymion on her side. she claimed she was "fighting for earth". but endymion stayed by the princess' side. this made beryl angry with rage and attacked the prince and princess. she succeeded at doing so! queen serenity was so entirely upset she sent the people of the moon to earth safely and the people of the dark kingdom trapped inside the ginzuishou. i'm not going to get into detail about the story of sailormoon so go look it up if you dont know =P
queen beryl is obviously older than how old she looks. i think this because she is very wise and the older you are the wiser you get! besides, she is about a thousand-or-so years old, right? i also could be wrong. but i dont think she was reborn like the people of the moon kingdom. but according to dic, queen beryl is 30 years old (says so on the doll box >.<;;)
so as you can see, beryl went all through her life filled with jealousy and revenge. but soon she actually did get endymion to become one of her minions. she got the power to brainwash him so he would fight on her side. sadly for beryl, sailormoon healed him before beryl died.
in the anime, in the final battle between the senshi and the dark kingdom, beryl retreats to metallia for an extra boost of energy. instead, metallia possesses beryl so she has a body. then attacks sailormoon...but then gets healed by her moon stick. in the dub, she is destroyed by a made-up dic line "moon cosmic power" (�.� whatever dic..)
in the manga, beryl herself is stabbed by sailorvenus with a sword. her last words were aiming to prince endymion. before she dissapeared she muttered out: "i finally had you, but.. prince endymion..you... i've always been watching you.. Always...."

obviously, she wears a lot of purple. the color purple stands for highness. like royalty. so beryl�s showing it off by wearing the lovely purple dress she wears! the color stands for position of rank. and obviously shes very important, right? right.
well the most important are the sea green stones she wears. does this tell us anything? the stone beryl, is a pale, sea green.
green is the color for jealousy (green with envy). and queen beryl�s character is based on jealousy. you know how she wanted prince endymion but he was taken? well from that tuns of jealous burned inside of her. so queen beryl could also be called the green-eyed monster^^..not that people already dont call her that
