John Earns First USMTS Top-10 Finish!
Our Fourth of July weekend got off to a great start at the Slayton bullring on Friday evening, July 2.  Things looked pretty bleak during our ride to the track, as we drove in steady rain until we were within 5 miles of Slayton.  But sure enough, Slayton hadn't seen any rain, and the races would go on.  The heat and B feature weren't kind as some residual damage from John's contact with the wall in McCool Junction would cause some very poor runs in the heat and B feature.  Knowing we'd be in line for a USMTS provisional the team went right to work after the B feature, and got things put together for the A main.  John would set out from the 24th spot and take off right from the start.  On lap 3 he made some contact with Mark Noble in turn 4 pulling off the right-side sheet metal, but causing no other damage to the car.  The car was awesome...a night and day difference from the heat and B.  John was awesome on the top of 1 & 2, but hugging the bottom of turns 3 & 4.  The car was 3 wheeling most of the race, and he had moved up to 9th at one point, but would be 10th at the finish.  It was a great run for John, clearly his best on the USMTS this season.
