| May 27, 2004 - USMTS Park Jefferson Speedway - Jefferson, SD Park Jefferson Show Yields Disappointment A busy Memorial Day weekend didn't get off to a good start on Thursday, May 27th. John got spun from behind on the very first turn of his heat race. Contact from another car during that spin would break the right front shock, and accordingly the car handled very poorly during the heat and John would come home 7th. There were 51 USMTS mods on hand for the event, and John had his work cut out for him starting 11th in his B feature and needing a top-5 finish. The track was VERY dry by B feature time, and we were unable to get a handle on the track. The car didn't have any forward bite, and we needed to make some changes to the car before continuing on with the series later in the weekend. John would move up to 8th at one point, but fall to 11th on the last lap when Mike Jensen spun in front of him. We were disappointed to have not had a better showing on our home track, but it was a very full field that only saw 3 area drivers make the feature. Jay Noteboom, Ricky Stephan, & Gary March would each make the show with Noteboom's 16th place finish being the best any of them could muster. The track was as dry or drier than any we have seen at PJ in our 14 years of racing. |
