| May 15, 2004 - NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Park Jefferson Speedway - Jefferson, SD Team Makes Cautious Adjustments at Park Jefferson John took to the track at Park Jefferson on May 15 coming off a solid top-5 finish on May 8th. John would start at the back of his heat race once again, and be running well down the front stretch, but the car died coming out of turn 2 with an ignition problem. John would get a push start and return to the track, but at the drop of the green flag, the car died again. The battery cable had gotten pinched off, so after some quick repairs we were ready to return to action for the A Feature. A large field of 22 cars were on hand, and John would start the A Feature 21st. The track was very fast, and John knew he would need to be very cautious in working his way through the field. He did just that advancing to 10th when the race was halted on lap 10 for Paul Hemmingson's vicious wreck in turn 1. Hemmingson's car would be heavily damaged in a roll over. On the restart the field got brake-checked in turn 3, and John would swirve out of the groove to avoid contact with the cars in front of him. The restart would be let stand, and John lost several positions falling back to 15th. He'd race back up to 13th in the closing laps. It was disappointing to have lost the several positions on the track due to a bad restart, but we feel confident in the car's performance going into the USMTS show on the 27th. The team returns to Park Jefferson on May 27 for the USMTS race at the track. O.K. One Stop has signed as the primary sponsor of the Harris All Star Challenge USMTS race at Park Jefferson. So come on out on that Thursday evening and cheer John on! |
