2002 Race Results
Saturday, July 13, 2002 - Park Jefferson Speedway
Heat - The NASCAR Weekly Racing Series took a week off at Park Jefferson Speedway for the World Racing League, Modified and Late Model special.  That series is the replacement to the O'Reilly All Star Series which was just for Late Models.  John would start towards the rear in his heat race and would get tied up in an incident setting himself up for a pass for third.  John checked up when Derek Smith got out of shape, and he was struck from behind by another oncoming car.  That impact would spin John around and open up his driver's door for another impact.  The rear suspension of the car took a pretty hard hit and the crew had to work very hard to get back out for the B feature.

B Feature - John would start 3rd in the B feature and finish 4th, good enough for a transfer spot to the $1,200 to win A Main.

A Feature - Having taken a transfer spot out of the B John would start 22nd for the A Main.  The car seemed to be running very well in the B and we were anxious to see how far we could get in the A.  Right from the start John was fast, he was up to 14th on the first caution flag, 11th on the 2nd & 3rd caution, 9th on the 4th caution and was passing for 5th place with 10 laps remaining when a cracked mount in the rear suspension let go.  John was unable to continue, and was scored in 16th for the race.  The suspension damage was likely residual to the original incident in the heat race.

Standings - The weekly racing series resumes next week with John in 2nd place, 46 points behind Rich Hesse and leading Kyle Koster by 28, Jimmy Cole and Charlie Clark round out the top-5.  John will likely hold the top point average again going into this weeks races, as his average finish for the past 4 weeks is a 3rd place!
