My mother, Mary Catherine Curnutte Austin was told by her father Reuben Worth Curnutte, son of William M. and Nancy Elizabeth (Carroll) Curnutte that when the Curnutte brothers came over they first stopped in Canada in the Newfoundland area and then they came down the coast to the Virginia and the Carolina Coasts. Mother also said that one of the brothers stayed in Canada and became a trapper and a fisherman.
