Cat's Musings

This is just a place for random thoughts I have been pondering about the series. I have a lot of time on my hands, as I have stated I am disabled at the moment (it will be fixed!! LoL) and am a major Otaku of InuYasha so hense the musings. Enjoy. OH!!! If you stumbled in here and don't like spoilers, you might want to hit that little back button on your browser or just go clinking here. I have never been one to mind spoilers and they are kind of important to my musings so... sorry. But if you don't mind spoilers, go right on ahead.

What does Sesshomaru Eat?

In the episode called The True Owner of the Great Sword Sesshomaru makes the comment Your generosity is lost on me. I dont eat human food. And shortly after that a thread appeared at the Adult Swim boards, What does Sesshomaru eat? There were many theories, many of them absurd. But I will tell you what I think. All InuYasha fans know that the second ending features Sesshomaru and that the title translates to Deep Forest. And ever notice when he is hurt he goes into the forest? There have been several times he has done this. After he fought InuYasha the first time and lost his arm, he went into the forest and laid against a tree to recover. This is explained in episodes 133-134 The Woman Who Loved Sesshomaru. Also when InuYasha blasted him with the Wind Scar and Tenseiga protected his life, where did he go to recoup? The forest. Also, in Episode 75, the first episode of the Cat arc, while Jaken and Rin are fishing, what is Sesshomaru doing? Laying against a tree with a serene look on his face. It is my theory that he draws energy/food/sustenance from nature, specifically trees. Think about it, you never see him eating normal food as he said he doesnt (he could have been lying). He doesnt feed on other Youkai.

What determines a Hanyous Period of Vulnerability?

From time to time half-demons are rendered no strong than you or any other mere mortal. In episode 13 we learn that Hanyous have a time when they loose their demon side and become fully human. For each this time varies. We all know InuYashas period of vulnerability is on the New Moon. We later find out that Jinenji, who we first saw when he helped save Kirara, and comes back a few more times to help the gang, becomes human on a unknown date durning the day. And Naraku, also a Hanyou is able to choose his time. What could account for such things? Think about it? When are you the most vulnerable? Right after you are born. My theory is that the time that a Hanyou is born determines his period of vulnerability. This would also work in Narakus case, as he was not born of a demon and a human, as he even says in one of the episodes with Muso, one of Naraku's detachments that was actually Onigumo's heart. Also, if you have seen the third movie you know that at the beginning Izayoi is in labor and gives birth to Inu, just as the eclipse of the moon reaches its new phase. And just for the record if anyone cares, my period of vulnerability would be the day after Inus.

Midoriko

Just a bit of a musing on her name. Midori in Japanese means green. And in many cultures including Japanese green is the color of healing. It is often the color of a mikos aura. The ko part of her name is often added to words as a suffix for a girls name. More on her later.
