InuYashas Soul Devoured

Jaken- Trees, s, um eh, squirrel, l, uh lily, y, yellow! Your late fathers friend certainly lives deep in the forest. Uh, y-yeah.

Bokuseno- Welcome. I have awaited your arrival.

Rin- A voice from the sky!

Jaken- Uh I dont see anyone.

Bokuseno- I have been expecting you Sesshomaru.

Sesshomaru- So, you say that you knew I was coming, I presume?

~ InuYashas Soul Devoured ~

Birds- [chirping]

Sango- InuYasha told me what happened when I went off to search for Kohaku.

~Flashback recap~
Shippou- Uh no, Miroku! What are you doing? Youll get the poison insects!
Miroku- Wind Tunnel!
Demon- [roars]
InuYasha- Miroku! (Hes sucking in the poison insects.)
Miroku- [grunting] InuYasha, go rescue Sango and Kagome!
~End Flashback~

Sango- You bravely fought off the demons while I went after Kohaku.

~Another Flashback~
Sango- Uhh! Kohaku! Im going to kill you, then myself. Its the only choice. This is the only way to free you from Naraku. (Forgive me Kohaku.)
InuYasha- Stop Sango!
Sango- Yaah!
InuYasha- Unh!
~End Flashback~

Miroku- [groans]

Sango- Huh? Im sorry, Miroku, it was my fault you had to draw in those poisonous insects.

Miroku- Mmm. Sango.

Sango- What is it?

Miroku- Dont worry. Try not to look so sad. Theres still hope for Kohaku.

Sango- Miroku!

Miroku- Trust me, and keep smiling.

Sango- [whimpers] Yes, I will. Thank you.

Miroku- Mmm

Sango- Miroku! No. Say something to me. Please hang on, Miroku! Huh? [grumbles.]

Miroku- Anh!

Shippou- Sango, we brought some water. How is Miroku feeling?

Sango- I think hes feeling much better.

Miroku- Uh, uh, uh

Bokuseno- Do you seek information regarding the Tetsusaiga, your fathers heir loom sword? Or perhaps

Rin- [gasps] A tree demon!

Jaken- Oh, Lord Sesshomaru, whats that?

Sesshomaru- A two thousand year old magnolia tree.

Jaken- I see.

Bokuseno- It is true the sheaths of the swords, the Tetsusaiga and the Tenseiga, passed down from Sesshomarus father, were carved from my very own boughs.

Jaken- They were? (So the sheaths for their swords came from this tree. They hold such strange powers. Oh, I can see why, after seeing this creature.)

Sesshomaru- Bokuseno, perhaps you can explain the link to me between InuYasha and the Tetsusaiga.

Bokuseno- InuYasha Your younger brother?

Sesshomaru- InuYashas blood has changed. The first time was when a demon bit and broke the Tetsusaiga. The second time, he had let go of the Tetsusaiga while fighting me.

~Flashback~
Sesshomaru- Die! That scent again.
~End Flashback~

Sesshomaru- His scent wasnt that of a half-demons. It was the smell of a pure demons blood, like mine and my fathers.

Bokuseno- His had the same scent? [laughs] I have my doubts.

Sesshomaru- What do you mean by that?

Bokuseno- InuYasha is a half-demon, born between a demon and a human. He could never become a full-fledged demon. Sesshomaru, there is something that you, a pure-blooded demon, are capable of accomplishing, but which InuYasha could never do.

Sesshomaru- Go on.

Bokuseno- It is simple. I speak of protecting oneself.

Sesshomaru- Protecting oneself?

Bokuseno- Yes. In battle, for instance. If you find yourself in a hopeless situation, you are able to remain calm. You never lose control of yourself.

Sesshomaru- Huh. It wouldnt be possible for me to get myself into such a desperate situation.

Bokuseno- [laughs] No. I dont suppose you would. InuYasha is another matter, however. If backed into a corner to the point where his life were in danger, his demon blood takes control of the body, and it transforms in order to preserve his life.

Sesshomaru- (That would explain his transformation.)

Bokuseno- Unfortunately for InuYasha, the pure demon blood of his father is too strong for a half-demon such as himself.

Sesshomaru- What will the outcome be?

Bokuseno- Well, in essence, the demon blood will devour his human soul.

~Flashback~
InuYasha- [growls]
~End Flashback~

Bokuseno- He will not be able to recognize himself. He will not be able to differentiate between friend or foe. He will simply kill. And with repeated transformations, InuYasha will eventually loose his soul. He will become a demon who only knows how to fight and kill, and he will continue to fight until he is destroyed.

~Flashback~
InuYasha- [growling and snarling]
~End Flashback~

Bokuseno- I sincerely doubt that your father would have wished such a terrible fate upon his own son. That is why he bequeathed InuYasha the sword Tetsusaiga to protect his soul.

Sesshomaru- (The Tetsusaiga protects him? So if he releases the sword, he is doomed.)

~~ Commercial ~~

Kagome- InuYasha, youve sure done a lot of growing up.

InuYasha- Huh? Whats that supposed to mean?

Kagome- Its a compliment. I mean, you saved Kohakus life instead of killing him.

InuYasha- Huh! Yeah, well, I only did it to get under Narakus skin. If we can manage to get Kohaku back alive, that oughta really tick em off.

Kagome- (Putting on an act again.)

InuYasha- and besides, youre alive. Kohaku sparred you.

Kagome- Huh? You were worried?

InuYasha- Do you need to ask?

Kagome- You know, I was kind of worried myself. It took you so long to come back for me.

InuYasha- Hmm. Is your arm hurting you? Let me take a look at it.

Kagome- Never mind. I can take care of myself.

InuYasha- Hey, itll get a lot worse unless you take care of it early on.

Kagome- Its okay.

InuYasha- It isnt okay!

Kagome- I said Im all right!

InuYasha- Are not!

Kagome- Am, too! Eh!

InuYasha- Uh. Ah!

Sango- Sorry. I just wanted to thank you both.

InuYasha- Huh?

Kagome- Thank us for what?

Sango- Hmm. For the obvious Kagome and InuYasha for staying with me.

Shippou- Carry on, you guys.

InuYasha- Staying with her? Why wouldnt we? Hmm?

Birds- [chirping]

Old man- Waah!

InuYasha- What was that?

Kagome- Sounds like it came from over there.

Boy- [frustrated crying, hurried yelling]

Sango- Whats wrong?

Boy- Uh its my grandpa! Please, youve got yo help him!

InuYasha- Is it a demon?

Group- Huh?

InuYasha- Wheres the old man? Where did the demon get to? Unh! Unh! Huh? doesnt smell like there are any demons around here.

Old man- Help!

InuYasha- Huh?

Old man- Uh. Im up here! Ive fallen, and I cant get up!

InuYasha- Hmm. You fell?

Old man- Uh, thank you, lad. Thats a great help.

InuYasha- I thought a demon had attacked, but no. You got me all worked up over nothing.

Boy- Good thing they came along.

Old man- Thank you so much, lad. I twisted my ankle when I fell over. And now youre even carting me back to my village.

Miroku- No need to worry about it, old man, because it is more or less on our way. Isnt that right InuYasha?

InuYasha- Hmm.

Old man- Well, I certainly am indebted.

Shippou- Look the village!

Kagome- Youre right. There it is. Take care, you two.

Old man- Aye.

Boy- Thank you, Lady. You too, Mr. Dog Man.

InuYasha- Dog Man?

Kagome- InuYasha

Boy- As thanks, Im going to give you my treasure.

InuYasha- Hmm.

Boy- [laughs]

Shippou- Huh?

Boy- Bye! Thanks again!

Miroku- What did the boy give you?

InuYasha- A molted snakeskin.

Kagome- Cool. Just whatcha always wanted.

Shippou- Wow, InuYasha! Can I have it if you dont want it? Please? Wow! Neat!

InuYasha- Glad you like it. We dont have the time to be saving people.

Kagome- Look, its not like we went out of our way or anything.

Miroku- Whenever you do a good deed, you become ill tempered afterward.

InuYasha- Huh! Huh? huh?

Kagome- Is anything wrong?

InuYasha- [sniffing]

Miroku- Something the matter, InuYasha?

InuYasha- I smell human blood.

Kagome- Huh?

Miroku- What?

InuYasha- Smells like a lot of people.

Sango- Huh?

Miroku- Huh?

Sango- Theres smoke coming from over there.

InuYasha- Isnt that the village where we just left the kid and his grandfather? (They must have been attacked.) [grunting and panting] Huh?

Boy- [breathing hard] Uh, huh.

Kagome- Thats the boy!

InuYasha- Yeah.

Boy- Please help Gramps. Oh

Kagome- Youre safe now.

Shippou- Are you all right?

Boy- Please help him.

InuYasha- Kagome, you take care of the kid.

Kagome- Yeah, sure.

Miroku- Sango, you stay behind and protect Kagome for us, okay?

Sango- Yes, of course.

InuYasha- Lets go, Miroku!

Miroku- Coming!

InuYasha- Unh!

Villagers- [screaming]

Bandit- Unh!

Man- Aah!

Horses- [neighing]

Chickens- [clucking]

Bandit- This village suits us well.

Bandit- Well camp out here until the food runs out.

Bandit- Women! Assemble in one place! Dont even try to escape!

Women- [whimpering]

Miroku- Look bandits!

InuYasha- Youll pay! Unh! Yaah!

Bandit- [shouting]

InuYasha- Ill take care of you small fry later. Wheres your leader?

Miroku- InuYasha, among the bandits!

InuYasha- Yeah, I smell it. Theres a demon hiding among them.

Gatenmaru- [laughing] Little Man, that sword you brandish is most interesting.

InuYasha- Huh. So you must be the demon. Controlling a bunch of bandits, are you?

Bandit- What? You mean our leader is a demon?

Bandit- Thats the dumbest thing I ever heard.

Gatenmaru- Little Man, hand over that sword of yours.

InuYasha- Huh? What the heck are you babblin about?

Miroku- Better watch yourself, InuYasha.

InuYasha- Huh! As if Ids lose to this cretin.

Gatenmaru- Hmm.

InuYasha- [growls] Hrrm.

Gatenmaru- [laughs] If you wont hand it over, then Ill have no choice but to take it from you.

InuYasha- Huh! Like to see you try. Take it if you can.

Miroku- InuYasha still has difficulty wielding his heavy sword. Will he be able to handle himself?

InuYasha- Ill cut the hide off your back, you filthily little demon!

Gatenmaru- Hmm. Unh! Ohh.

InuYasha- Hmm.

Gatenmaru- Uh Unh!

Bandit- Look! The Chief!

Bandit- He split the giant hatchet!

InuYasha- Huh! Serves you right, bandit.

Gatenmaru- [laughing] Thats a mighty sharp sword.

InuYasha- Unh. Start making funeral plans, genius!

Gatenmaru- I need a shield. Haah!

Women- [whimpering]

Woman- Aah!

InuYasha- On, no!

Woman- Aah! Aaah!

InuYasha- Unh!

Gatenmaru- [growls]

InuYasha- Unh!

Gatenmaru- [laughs] Youve been showered with my poison. Unh!

InuYasha- Aah! [grunts] That wont stop me! Aah!

Gatenmaru- Huh. That sword is amazing. I like it more and more all the time. [spits] Haaaa!

InuYasha- Aah!

Miroku- Oh, no! [grunting] Yaaaah!

InuYasha- Uh! [grunting and groaning]

Miroku- [groaning]

Gatenmaru- [still spitting]

InuYasha- [still groaning]

Gatenmaru- [laughs] Thatll keep them out of my way.

Bandit- I dont believe it!

Bandit- Whats he done?

Gatenmaru- [laughing] Is something the matter? Are you afraid now that you know Im a demon?

Bandit- Un, no chance, Chief.

Bandit- Uh, who wouldnt want a strong demon for a leader?

Bandit- Well continue to follow your lead, Chief.

Gatenmaru- [laughs]

Bandit- Serves those fools right! Aah! Pain! The pain! [whines]

Gatenmaru- Its a poison cocoon. One touch, and youll melt away. The two inside will have totally disintegrated by now. [laughs]

Bandit- Aaaah!

Gatenmaru- [laughs] Its a poison cocoon. Wit continued exposure, you would melt away like those fools inside. Hmm. They havent disintegrated? Oh. So, theyve created a barrier on the inside.

Miroku- InuYasha, can you move at all?

InuYasha- Of course I can move. Ill rip this stupid cocoons apart. [b-bmp] Unh, aah!

Miroku- InuYasha! InuYasha- [groans] Uh.

Gatenmaru- You are wasting your time. You are more or less paralyzed. The poison powder has entered your bloodstream already through the wound in your torso. It will fester slowly.

InuYasha- Unh, Unh [groaning]

Gatenmaru- Fetch the sword for me.

Bandit- Yes, sir. Mmh!

Miroku- Hes got your sword!

Bandit- Here you are, Chief.

Gatenmaru- Aah!

Miroku- (Tetsusaiga has rejected him.)

Bandit- Chief?

Gatenmaru- Little Man, what is the meaning of this? Why does this sword reject me?

InuYasha- Huh! Ill tell you about my Tetsusaiga. Its choosy about its user, and it would never let a low-class demon like you came anywhere near it.

Gatenmaru- Oh? Then explain why this low-class bandit was capable of wielding the sword.

Bandit- Low-class bandit? Come on, Chief.

InuYasha- Unh!

Gatenmaru- [laughs] How utterly amazing. A half-demon like you had the gall to pick a fight with me, the demon Gatenmaru!

Kirara- [growls]

Sango- Theyre taking too long. Something must have happened in the village.

Kagome- Are you all right?

Boy- Im worried about my grandpa.

Kagome- (InuYasha)

Miroku- (InuYashas wound is getting worse.)

InuYasha- (Damn! the bleeding wont stop. Is it because of the poison?)

Miroku- (Oh, were in real trouble. Its all I can do to keep up this barrier. I cant make a move on the enemy, and this wont hold out forever.)

Bandit- Um, Chief, what shall we do with his sword?

Gatenmaru- Do as you please. Im not interested in a sword I cant use.

Bandit- Thank you! I am most grateful.

Old man- Uh. That sword of his I must get it. I must get it to him.

Bandit- Nice blade.

Bandit- [laughing]

Bandit- Great looking sword.

Gatenmaru- Its only a matter of time before the barrier wears off, and the poison cocoon melts them away. So Ill just sit here and enjoy the view.

InuYasha- [groans]

Miroku- [grunting]

Gatenmaru- [laughs] Bring the women over to me.

Women- [whimpering and screaming]

Woman- Aah!

InuYasha- [youki wind and heartbeat]

Miroku- Uh?

InuYasha- Damn him to hell.

Miroku- Unh!

InuYasha- [growling]

Words of Interest:
Youki: demonic energy and or wind.

Okay, this is the version taken from Adult Swim, as I use the Closed Captioning to make the Transcipt. I am not sure how the offical VIZ DVD breaks the episode, if it is in the same place. But the reason that Gatenmaru's line about the cocoon being poison repeats itself, is beacause that is where the break in the original Japanese version is. Sorry if there is any confusion.
