Literature Note Cards Assignment

Begin a "deck of cards."  Complete the following information on 4 x 6 note cards.  This is not only a great review for the AP English Literature & Composition Exam, but it is also a good way to help you remember details about what you have read for college English classes.  You will present 5 of these to the class for their review on the 18th of April.  Neat handwriting in ink is the only acceptable method for this assignment.

On the front of the card, record the following information:

1.      Your name in the upper RIGHT hand corner (small)

2.     the author (last name first for alphabetizing)

3.      the title (what is the relevance of the title to the work)

4.     the type of literature (play, novel, short story, etc.…)

5.      the year of writing and correlating literary movement

6.      the setting

7.      the names of the main characters and their relationship to each other

8.     the plot line (in two or three sentences)

9.      the theater, date of performance, and director (for a play or movie)

                  On the back, record

1.      a brief reaction (brief, here, means one or two sentences)

2.     questions you have add answers as you get them

3.      a memorable line or two

4.     any archetypal characters, situations, etc.
